Sad Christmas – A Poem

24 Nov , 2016

It is Christmas Day, but you cannot see,

Any smiling faces, around the Christmas tree.

But if you look close, you’ll see something dear,

A tear in the eye, for what happened this year.

It might not be happy, but for them it is true,

Just like you have a loved one, so they did too.

Their little bundle of joy, who was born all too soon,

Who is now just a star, flying high with the moon.

Under their tree, there were presents galore,

For their little baby, but not anymore.

Never unwrapped, by the one who’s not here,

Instead just a memory, and a tiny shed tear.

Their little lost one, an angel you’ll see,

Sharing their day, from on top of the tree.

The Christmas pudding, all set alight,

But their angel will have, not one single bite.

Instead she’ll watch over, her family so dear,

And warm up their hearts, for the rest of the year.

Into the new, bright and  blessed day,

Their angel is there, forever to stay.

It is now Boxing Day, but still you can’t see,

Any smiling faces, around the Christmas tree.

But if you look close, you’ll see something true,

Their love will go on, for me and for you.
